Anthony Newley

... was the second of Joan Collins's four husbands (to date), and the father of her two children, Tara and Alexander. They were married from 1963 to 1970.

Newley also had a successful songwriting partnership with Lesley Bricusse. As well as the Goldfinger theme, their collaborations include What Kind of Fool Am I? and Feeling Good. The latter has been recorded by acts as diverse as Nina Simone, Traffic, Michael Bublé, John Coltrane, George Michael, Eels and Muse (among others).

Newley and Bricusse also wrote musicals, including Stop the World I Want to Get Off (1961), The Roar of the Greasepaint - the Smell of the Crowd (1965), and Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971).

Newley was an early influence on David Bowie, who was a fan of his. The producer of Bowie's first album, Mike Vernon, even described his first impression of Bowie as "a young Anthony Newley".
